This weeks LIWA Most Outstanding Wrestler is
Chris Araroz. Araroz led the Wantagh Warriors to their 2nd
consecutive Nassau County Dual Meet Championship. Araroz went
4-0 in the championship with 3 tech falls of 17-0, 18-1 and 15-0 and
finished out the run with a 10-6 victory over MacArthur's Justin
Cooksey, who was 2nd in the state tournament last year. This
last victory came in the championship final on Saturday afternoon.
Way to go Chris!
Week 4 - Michael
Marrero of MacArthur
This
weeks LIWA Most Outstanding Wrestler is Michael Marrero wrestling at
152lbs for MacArthur. Marrero helped lead MacArthur to their win over
Mepham with a pin of Louis Hernandez of Mepham at 1 minute and 40
seconds in the 2nd period. Hernandez was last years county champ at
145lbs. At the time of the match Hernandez was undefeated (14-0) and
ranked 1st at 145lbs while Marrero's record was 13-2 and was
unranked. Congratulations Michael!
Week 3 - TJ Fabian of
Shoreham-Wading River
This weeks LIWA Most Outstanding Wrestler is Shoreham-Wading River
126lber TJ Fabian. Fabian defeated 2 state champions on his
way to winning the Eastern States Classic Tournament. He had a
5-1 semifinal win over 2011 D2 103lb state champ, William Koll.
Then, in the finals, he edged Dylan Realbuto, the 2012 D1 State
Champ at 113lbs. Congratulations TJ!
Week 2 - Nick Weber of
Kings Park
The
LIWA Most Outstanding Wrestler for the week of January 2-5 is Kings
Park's 195lber Nick Weber. At the Syosset Tournament, he made
short work of four opponents pinning them all in the first period.
This included pins over Devon Doran, William Floyd (ranked #3 Section
XI, 6th Section XI 2012) and Dan Choi, Syosset (ranked #3 NYS, 3rd
Section VIII 2012). For his efforts, he was awarded the MOW and Most
Pins Least Time awards.
Week 1 - James
Szymanski of Shoreham-Wading River
The
LIWA Most Outstanding Wrestler for the week of December 24-29 is James
Szymanski of Shoreham-Wading River. In the 106lb bout in the dual
against West Babylon in the Joe Davidson Memorial Duals at Sachem
North James defeated Steven Lee in the tie breaker 2-1. Lee, of West
Babylon, was 2nd in Section 11 last year at 99 lbs and a wild card to
the NYS tournament who defeated Szymanski in the county quarterfinals
3-1.
