Wrestling Program Assistant Manager
Beat the Streets Wrestling in NYC is
currently looking for a Girls Wrestling Program Assistant Manager. A

non-profit organization that provides wrestling programming for
under-resourced youth.
The ideal candidate will not only be able
to teach freestyle wrestling, recruit adolescent girls to try out
wrestling, and understand the need for an all-girls option in addition
to the coed opportunities available, but should also be a good manager,
computer savvy, and accessible in after school/weekend hours, as that is
when most of our events/practices take place.
While we are looking for people with
wrestling experience, wrestling experience is not the only factor that
will figure into the decisions. We are looking for people who actually
care about getting more young people to wrestle, and helping them become
strong, disciplined young adults who are not afraid to work toward their
goals and to push themselves.

Girls Wrestling Program Assistant
Manager
Reports to: BTS Girls
Program Manager
Oversees: Various aspects
of coaching and administering the city-wide girls wrestling program
Requirements: College
degree preferred; Minimum 3 years wrestling experience; Access to and
skill with internet, email, and MS Office; General computer savvy and
enthusiasm; Must pass a background check
- Responsibilities:
450 hours over the course of the season
(can be done over 4-12 months; exact timeframe to be determined to
best accommodate successful hire)
Work with the Girls Program Manager in
running practices, administration of the program, and expanding
opportunities for girls during after-school hours, during the evening,
and on weekends
Chaperone trips to camps and
tournaments when necessary
Provide wrestling instruction, as well
as off-mat activities such as cross training, running, and other
methods of training
Provide nutritional guidance and
support healthy decision-making
- Qualities:
Build and manage a wrestling program. The
person must be ready to recruit, market, and maintain a group of
individuals to mold into a team.
Be able to teach basic wrestling moves
and conduct practices.
Understand the needs and concerns of
teenage girls and fully understand the reasons for having separate
girls’ teams in addition to coed options.
Have a good sense of or an interest in
working with people having diverse personalities and backgrounds

Description:
Member Duties : CAA Coaches will
serve as mentors and role models for youth as they teach physical
fitness, leadership, and sport-specific skills; impart health and
nutrition information; lead service-learning activities; participate as
an active member of the national service movement, and use sport as a
vehicle for social change. During each Coach's term of service he or she
will use reflection, training (through CAA and their Host-Site) and
experience to build, improve and refine skill sets in the areas of
coaching, non-profit management, and youth development.

Service Description : Sports
have always been an important part of your life: as a Coach Across
America (CAA) member you will serve, teach and support youth through
Beat the Streets, an organization that provides wrestling programming
for under-resourced youth. During your year of service, you will receive
extensive training in the proven methods of sports-based youth
development (SBYD), along with a toolbox of coaching techniques, team
building activities, and the knowledge needed to coach effectively, and
you will learn how to use your sport as a vehicle for social change. As
a Coach and Program Assistant, you will address some of the most
pressing needs of our nation's young people: childhood obesity, academic
failure, and anti-social behavior. Additionally, you will have the
opportunity to learn valuable non-profit management skill as you
participate in a range of capacity-building activities designed to
support programming for youth in our nation's most under-resourced
